Four of Dethrone’s outstanding amateur boxers will be competing in various touraments this summer.
The 2013 Desert Showdown Amateur World Championship brings together an estimated 1,000 amateur boxers from around the Country. Considered one of the bigger amateur tournaments in the country, Dethrone will be represented by first time participant Brysen Garcia, and making their return are Robby and Alyssa Baylon.
With three to four other boys competing in Garcia’s bracket, he could potentially have up to three fights.
Defending two time champion, Alyssa Baylon will look to make it a three-peat as she’ll be competing in her third weight class in three years. Participating in the Novice division, she could have up to two fights.
Robby Baylon the 2013 Silver Gloves champion will try to notch another title this year, competing at 55 pounds…Baylon looks to secure his first title in Coachella.
Next month in Kansas, Dethrone’s new amateur 9 year old stand out…Jessie, who won the National Championship earlier this year in the same tournament, hopes to make it a repeat performance
Immediately after the tournament down south, Robby and Brysen will head to Mesquite, Nevada, where they’ll compete for the Junior Golden Gloves.
The next few weeks will be busy for team Dethrone, but head coach Marco Padilla put the time and hard work to have his kids prepared to bring home the titles.
UPDATE: Brysen Garcia won his first fight, winning a solid back and forth battle, he’ll be competing in round 2 today. Alyssa Baylon fights tomorrow, with Robby likely fighting on Saturday.
