It’s been a roller coaster six months for Dethrone fighter John Salter (9-3). Since his last MMA fight in April, after defeating Fred Weaver in dominate fashion back home in Alabama, Salter finally returns to the cage Friday Night against Jaime Jara (34-14) at Eagle Mountain Casino in Porterville, CA.
Being a fighter with the accolades of John Salter sometimes makes life difficult when securing a fight…these past few months have seen a few fighters decline or pull out of fights for unknown reasons.
Salter a recently promoted black belt, was finally able to draw a formidable opponent in veteran Jaime Jara. Jara who brings experience with 48 professional fights with toughness and a balance attack….will look to pull off the upset.
Fighting for only the second time in 16 months, the training was grueling and patience were tested, Salter did what he does best, never complained and always put his faith first.
Zuniga, Smith featured on the undercard:
Also on the card, two other Dethrone representatives; George Zuniga, who made his pro debut in May looks to improve his overall record to 2-0. And lightweight Antoine Smith will try to get his career rolling with his first pro win.

Tonight live from Visalia CA, Bellator Fighting Championships will show case Bellator Heavyweight and Middleweight Semifinals and the Bellator Bantamweight Tournament Final.
The card will feature UFC veteran and Dethrone fighter Lavar “Big” Johnson (17-7), making his Bellator debut. After a 2-2 stint in the UFC, Lavar was released after a questionable failed drug test, for elevated testosterone. His opponent in his debut of the Heavyweight Semifinals, Vinicius Kappke De Querioz (6-3), a 6’7 Brazilian brown belt under the legendary Nogueira brothers.
If victorious, Johnson could possibly face another UFC veteran making his Bellator debut in the main event, Chuck Kongo. By placing Kongo and Johnson on separate sides of the mini tournament, Bellator would be elated to have these two big bangers fight it out in the finale.
On the prelims fighting at a catch weight of 165 pounds, Bryan Travers (14-3), fights Stephen Martinez (9-2). Travers who trained exclusively at Dethrone for this fight camp, is fresh off Bellator’s first reality show, “Fight Master.”
Both Johnson and Travers look to secure their first wins under the Bellator banner.
The rest of the card also features a few local fighters:
Lightweight Feature Fight: Brandon Girtz vs. Poppies Martinez
Featherweight Feature Fight: Scott Cleve vs. Isaac De Jesus
Heavyweight Feature Fight: William Richey vs. Brandon Cash
